Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMADELINE BITTERN Peacefully after a two week illness on Sunday, January 12, 2003 at 10:50 a.m. at the Health Sciences Centre, Madeline Bittern passed away at the age of 80 years. Madeline was born in Berens River on May 1, 1922 where she lived for a few years, then moved to Winnipeg where she lived for 34 years until the time of her death. Madeline loved her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed going to church, sewing and looking after small children. She leaves to cherish her loving daughters, Clara Boucker (Len), Mae Fontaine (Larry) and the children she raised, Joe Travers (Emily), Colleen Everette, Joseph Flett, Sydney (Brenda) and Myra Bittern; two brothers, William Raven and Laurie McKay (Agnes) two sisters, Theresa Everette (William) and Rosalie Baptiste (Boniface) best friends, Christina and Nora Patrick; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. There are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward Raven and Betsy McKay; brother Francis Bittern; sister Patricia Berens; sister Bernice McKay; grandsons, Ray, Nickey, Kernell, Nootin and Larry; and great-granddaughter Deanna. Prayers will be said on Monday, January 13 at 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday, January 14 at 8:00 p.m. at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Ave. at Parr, Winnipeg. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15 at 1:00 p.m., also at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
