LYDIA WILSON Lydia Wilson (nee Weitzel), widow of Charles Wilson, passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital January 14, 2003. Lydia will be dearly missed by her son Lorne Wilson and his wife Ruth; daughter Donna Ruppel, and son Murray Wilson; her grandchildren, Tracey Ruppel, Darcy and Mike Pauken, Quinn and Jen Wilson, Holly and Chris Clarke, and Paige Wilson; her great-grandchildren Frances and Victor Pauken. Lydia was predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, Charles Wilson; her brother Fredrick Weitzel; sisters, Molly Derrett, Tillie Kaufman, Teenie Iball and Eva Koss and is survived by sisters, Mary Schaefer, Elsie Dunfield and Emma Rieger. Lydia was born in Winnipeg in 1914, living her early years on the family farm in Baldur, MB, and returning to Winnipeg for the remainder of her life where she met and married Charles and they raised their family. Lydia was a lifetime member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Central to her life was her family, with many fond memories of family vacations at the beaches, backyard barbecues, fun filled hours of shopping and road trips to the USA to visit family. During those years, she was a longtime Eatons employee. Friends and family enjoyed her great sense of humour and quick wit. She was astute at assessing all situations and was a great organizer. Her card playing talents were legend and she possessed an uncanny way of winning at Bingo that defied all reasoning. Lydias strong and loving personality will be sorely missed by all her family. A heartfelt thank you to the medical and nursing staff of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital, to home care and the staff at Amber Meadows. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1443 Main Street. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Lydias memory to the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
