Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJULIE MALONEY (nee BEREZANSKI) January 4, 1916 - January 15, 2003 It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Julie Maloney, at age 87, with her family by her side. Her strong, loving spirit and strength will be remembered by those of us fortunate to have known her. The cornerstone of "Beatles" charm was her nurturing love and unflagging positive attitude. Hers was the neighbourhood house where everyone felt at home, drawn to Julies endless hospitality. She cheerfully welcomed a stream of visitors, who would come by day and night for a hot meal and warm conversation. Young or old, rich or poor, from famous to infamous, everyone was always welcome at the Maloney house. She and her husband Jack were a strong team, both in business and family. He passed on 14 years ago, and she showed incredible strength, continuing on their family legacy by herself unquestioningly. But the best of her love was reserved for her family, whom she loved unconditionally and without boundaries. Her inner strength was an inspiration to all. We were most amazed by her final days - even facing terminal illness, she worried about those of us tending to her, putting her own pain and suffering aside to nurture and love us. Her positive attitude remained until the end, as she still made us smile and laugh with her deadpan sense of humour and quips that had a way of striking right to the heart of the matter. We didnt want to let our precious "Jewel" go, but we knew Jack was waiting for her. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN . . . Julie Maloney was born January 4, 1916 in Winnipeg. She met and married her true love, Jack, in 1939, after a whirlwind six-week courtship. They moved to Selkirk, and were married 49 years until his passing in 1989. She leaves behind three children: Patrick and his wife Diana of Florida, Darlene of Chicago, and Michael and his wife Susan of Selkirk. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Carreen and her husband Hiromi Monro of Washington State, and Patrick and his wife Jennifer of Vancouver. Patrick and Jennifers son, Jack, Julies first great-grandchild, was named in honour of his great-grandfather and was born just in time to meet his great-grandmother. She will also be missed by many other special family members, including her brothers-in-law Gerald and Elmer; and her sister-in-law Marilyn Peskett of Vancouver, as well as nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Julie was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Peter Berezanski, her sister and brother-in-law Steffie and Frank Neil, her brother and sister-in-law Walter and May Berezanski, all of Winnipeg, and brother-in-law Jack Peskett of Vancouver. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. January 18, at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel at 309 Eveline Ave. in Selkirk. The service will end at the funeral home, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Palliative Care, in care of Selkirk General Hospital, Box 5000, Selkirk, MB, R1A 2M2 or International Myeloma Foundation, 12650 Riverside Dr., Ste. 206, North Hollywood, CA, 91607.
