WILLIAM EDWARD (ED) BROWN On January 15, 2003 at Neepawa Hospital, with his family by his side, Ed Brown, aged 63 years, of Plumas, MB. Ed was predeceased by his wife Lorraine (1999) his parents, George (1995) and Mabel (2002) parents-in-law, Les and Sadie Smith; and brother-in-law Don Taylor. He will be greatly missed by his children, Wanda (Warren) and Doug; brothers, Roy (Wendy) and Ron (Sue) sister Mabel; brother-in-law George and Ruth Smith; as well as nieces and nephews, Nicole, Lesley, Mark, Craig and Kyle; aunts, Goldie Kirkland and Sherri Wilson; as well as cousins. Ed was born May 31, 1939 on the family farm south of Plumas, living there until the family moved to town in 1946. He attended school in Plumas until he began driving truck with his dad in the family business, Plumas Transfer. He married Lorraine Smith in 1962 and continued to work in the business with his father. Along with trucking Ed worked on the family farm and helped to raise his family. He and Lorraine bought Plumas Transfer from George in 1977 and some of the farm in 1986. They continued to operate both for a time. Ed retired from farming but operated Plumas Transfer until fall 2002. Dad was a man who most enjoyed the simple, quiet things in life such as his family, friends, and work. He took great pride in keeping anything of his in perfect condition. His vehicles were always kept in top shape and were polished to a shine regularly. This reflects the pride he took in his possessions and business as well as in his relationships with his family and friends. Dad tried to look at the bright side of life, taking time to enjoy a good laugh with family and friends. This sense of humour was dampened with the loss of his wife Lorraine and still more by his illness, although he enjoyed some good moments while he was ill and he left his family with some fond memories of their last times together. Ed will be greatly missed by all that knew him personally and through Plumas Transfer. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Plumas United Church, Plumas, with Rev. Debra Orton officiating. Interment will follow in the Plumas Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Neepawa Palliative Care Service, Box 1240, Neepawa, MB R0J 1H0.
