Gladys was born May 15, 1915, to William and Emily Butt in , NF, where she grew up and married Walter Pike. After six months of marriage, Walter was killed during the Second World War. While working at the USAF base in St. John, Gladys met Harold Buckingham and married him in 1946 in Winnipeg. They had one daughter, Linda Anne. During their marriage of 37 years, they lived in Oshawa, Montreal, Pincher Creek, settling last in Winnipeg in 1966. Ever since Gladys became a widow in 1984, she has poured her energy into her family. For six years she received care, support and friendship from her good friend Gunnvor. In 2001 she moved to the Betel personal care home in Gimli where she was very happy. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 37 years, Harold Buckingham; her first husband Walter Pike; her parents William and Emily Butt; and her brother Cyril. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Linda Westman (Phil) her grandsons, Mark Westman (Jobina) and Tim Westman; her great-grandson Riker Westman, who was the joy of her last six months; her sisters, Louise Abbott (Norman), Isobel Costello, Marjorie Peddle and Emma Margeson (Doug). Special thanks to all the caregivers at Betel in Gimli for making her last two years comfortable and happy. Thanks also to the staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital for their help in easing her passing. Linda and her family feel very blessed by the caring and prayerful support from their church family at Bayview Evangelical Free Church.
