PERE GERARD PARIS, o.m.i. 1916 - 2003 Paisiblement, apres une longue maladie, le Pere Gerard Paris, o.m.i. est decede B lhopital Saint-Boniface, le 15 janvier 2003 a lage de 86 ans. En plus de sa famille religieuse, il laisse dans le deuil son frere Lionel, ses soeurs Julie et Suzanne, tous du Quebec, ainsi que de nombreux neveux et nieces. Gerard est ne B St-Cyrille de Wendower, QC le 30 aout 1916 (dioc. de Nicolet), fils dOmer Paris et de Rose-de-Lima Plouffe. Il prit lhabit le 18 avril 1932 B Richelieu, QC Ses etudes theologiques se firent au Scolasticat de Lebret, SK, sa, et ses voeux perpetuels le 26 avril 1939 a Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, QC. Il fut dabord frere de 1933 a 1944 puis fut ordonne pretre le 18 juin 1950 au Scolasticat de Lebret, SK. Ayant maitrise la langue Ojibway, il passa la majeure partie de sa vie missionnaire aupres des autochtones au nord du Manitoba et en Ontario. Sa derniere obedience lamena a St-Ambroise, MB en 1984 jusquen 1996 quand il se retira de la vie active a Casa Bonita, St-Boniface, MB. Les prieres auront lieu le vendredi 17 janvier a 19h, au Manoir, Salle Aubert, 474, rue Aulneau a Saint-Bonface. La messe de la Resurrection sera celebree le samedi 18 janvier a 10 h, au meme endroit. FATHER GERARD PARIS, o.m.i. 1916 - 2003 Following a lengthy illness, Father Gerard Paris, o.m.i. passed away peacefully at St-Boniface Hospital, on January 15, 2003 at the age of 86. Besides his religious family, he leaves to mourn his brother Lionel; and two sisters, Julie and Suzanne, all of Quebec; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gerard was born at St. Cyrille of Wendower, QC August 30, 1916 (Nicolet dioc.), son of Omer Paris and Rose-de-Lima Plouffe. He joined the Oblates on April 18, 1932 at Richelieu, QC. His theological studies were completed at Lebret Scholasticate, SK. And he pronounced his perpetual vows on April 26, 1939 at Ste. Agathe-des-Monts, QC. He began as a Brother from 1933 to 1944 then was ordained a priest on June 18, 1950 at the Scholasticate at Lebret, SK. Having mastered the Ojibway language, he spent the major part of his missionary life among the Native People in Northern Manitoba and Ontario. His last obedience was for St. Ambroise, MB in 1984 until 1996 when he retired at Casa Bonita, St. Boniface, MB. Prayers will be on Friday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m., in the Manoir, Aubert Hall, 474 Aulneau St., Saint Boniface. The Mass of the Resurrection will be on Saturday, January 18 at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
