Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANLEY (STAN) JAMES CROOK February 12, 1910 - January 16, 2003 On Thursday, January 16, Dad passed away to be with Mom. Dad was born and raised in Winnipegs north end and, other than about a 24 year period when he owned and ran a tourist camp at West Hawk Lake and managed a wholesale firm in Kenora, ON, spent the remaining years of his life from 1973 back in Winnipeg. Dad lived a very active life. At various times he was an excellent five pin bowler and golfer, winning many trophies over the years in both sports and particularly in his latter years, a very strong member of the Windsor Park Country Club Seniors golfing organization. He also loved boating and fishing, and greatly treasured the years he spent at his cottage on a one acre island at Royal Lake, ON. Dad also loved snowshoeing and skiing and was an active member of the Thistle Club for many years. Dad was a very generous and caring person, always willing to go out of his way to help someone. Dad was the last surviving member of his family, having been predeceased by three brothers and four sisters. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Trudy, in January of 2000. He is survived by his only child and son Jim. Cremation has taken place. There may be a private internment service in the family area of St. Johns Cemetery this coming spring/summer for both Dads and Moms ashes. Special thanks go to all the staff and volunteers of the Palliative Ward 4 West at the Grace Hospital and Major Cath McFarlane. Thanks also go to Ruth and Jack, Jennifer and family, Rev. G. Drew, and Dads special friend, Thelma, of Vancouver. Dad, you know in the years we were together there were more than a few times when, through my various trials and tribulations, I probably wasnt the best son one could want. However, I feel that it would be very hard to find a Dad who was as good as you were. Your deep sense of love knew no bounds and you were always there for me. Soar Dad, Soar.
