MARIAN GOERTZEN (nee SLUIS) Peacefully, after a year and nine months of dealing with cancer, Marian passed away at home on Thursday, January 16, 2003. Marian will be lovingly remembered by her husband Jerry; son Robert Mayer; three stepchildren, Geoffrey, Tanya and Shawn Goertzen; three sisters and three brothers. She was predeceased by her parents, Theodorus and Johanna Elizabeth Sluis. Marians family immigrated to Canada in 1958 from Utrecht, Holland. On August 27, 1988, she married Jerry Goertzen. They were happily married for 14 and one-half years. She was employed at the University of Manitoba for 26 years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and gardening. Her positive attitude and joy of life were an inspiration to those that knew her. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Richard Blouw, Dr. Ian Maxwell, Oncology staff at Victoria Hospital, staff at Riverview Health Centre 3 East, Rose (homecare attendant), Joe (palliative nurse) and special thanks to Ronnie Clark for her faithfulness in always being there for Marian. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 20 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Pentecostal Church, 955 Wilkes Ave. Interment will follow in Garry Memorial Park. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Marians memory to CancerCare Manitoba. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
