Mary was born on November 30, 1912, to George and Elizabeth Brogden at Cartwright. She lived there all her life, marrying Calvin Hill in 1939, settling in town and raising a family there. She was a very kind and gentle person and she lovingly cared for many people during her life. She was very close to all her relatives and extended family. This was very important to her. Mary loved flowers and was very talented at arranging them beautifully. She won many red ribbons and honours for arrangements she created herself from flowers she grew in her own garden. She often made special occasions more special by providing arrangements or corsages for special events in town. She created a warm and loving home, growing a beautiful garden full of vegetables and flowers and preparing delicious meals for family and friends to look forward to and enjoy. Mary was a longtime member of the Rebekah Lodge in Cartwright. She held all the offices of the Lodge over the years and the order meant a great deal to her. She was also a dedicated member of the United Church congregation and her faith was very strong. Mary was predeceased by her parents; stepmother Florence Brogden; sisters, Edith and Beatrice; brothers, Stanley and Bob; her husband Calvin; and her daughter Linda. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cartwright United Church with a gathering of family and friends to follow at the Cartwright Centennial Auditorium. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Marys honour to the Cartwright United Church Memorial Fund. Grahams Funeral Service, Pilot Mound in care of arrangements.
