JESSIE ANN WHITE (nee REID) Jessie died peacefully with her husband and son by her side at the Charleswood Care Centre on January 14, 2003 at age 83. Jessie was born to Thomas and Jessie at Aberdeen, Scotland on January 1, 1920 and came to Canada with her family in 1921. They settled in the Harding, MB area and later moved to Brandon. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1936. Jessie married Donald White of McAuly, MB in 1944 and they settled in Winnipeg the following year, living most of their married life in the North End. They moved to Nassau Street four years ago. Jessie was a member of the Sons of Scotland for many years. As a young girl she trained in Highland dancing and competed in many competitions and exhibitions to a high degree of success. Jessie was very much a home girl working within their home all of her married life. She had a great love of children and spent much of her time caring for the children of relatives, friends and neighbours. Jessie was predeceased by her parents in the 1970s, and brother Thomas in 1995. Jessie will be sadly missed by Donald her husband of 59 years, her son Lenard and Arlene, grandsons Derrick and Daniel of Winnipeg. Brothers, John (Jock), Walter and wife Betty, Gordon and wife Joan; and her sister Elizabeth (Bunty) of Edmonton, AB; plus numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to make a special mention of two people in Jessies life. Her niece Donna Ann played an important role, especially in the past few years. Buddy came into Jessies life as a very young child, winning an everlasting spot in her heart. Special thanks to the staff at the Charleswood Care Centre for their love and care of Jessie while she was there. Cremation has already taken place and a graveside memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in her memory to The Diabetes Association of Manitoba, 283 Portage Ave., 2nd floor, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2B5.
