Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALLACE DUNCAN BJARNASON The family of Wallace Duncan Bjarnason are sad to announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, Afi, and great Afi, on January 18, 2003 at the Arborg Personal Care Home. Dad was born in Arborg on June 3, 1909. He moved to Winnipeg on May 19, 1926 and was employed at the Leland Hotel. He worked in the hotel business for 40 years. He also worked at the Winnipeg Sanitation Department and with the Associated Anacesthetists for a number of years. Dad retired at the age of 66. Dad married mother, Margaret Jonina Thorvaldson, on October 18, 1930. They were blessed with 72 years of marriage. Two children were born, Lorraine and Wallace Jr. Wallace loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and the many years at the farm in Riverton with family and friends. His family was his main love. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren have fond memories of their Afi. Wallace is survived by wife Margaret; son Wallace (Joan), grandchildren, Brant and Cathy Bjarnason, Diane Smechanski (Tom) son-in-law Charlie Lindsay (Norma), grandchildren, Gail Dubinack (Bohdan), Carol Baker (Dennis), Scott Lindsay (Carol Anne), Lori Zoras (Peter) 11 great-grandchildren; one sister Loa Johnson. Wallace was predeceased by his mother Johanna Kristin Gudmundson, daughter Lorraine Lindsay. Brothers, Marino and Lawrence. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Arborg Personal Care Home for their love and compassion to Dad over the last year. A memorial service will be held in the Spring.
