JOHANNES "JOE" KUYPERS Peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2003, Joe Kuypers, aged 84, passed away at Grace Hospital. A longtime resident of Charleswood, Joe was predeceased by his wife Vi; and his sister Annie Gonzales of Vancouver. He is survived by his sons, Brian (Frances) of Oakville, ON, and Jack (Debbie) of Charleswood; and daughter Joanne (Bill) of Calgary. He will be fondly remembered by his four grandsons, David, Richard, Jay and Michael; his brother Henry (Marguerite) of Vancouver; his sisters, Elizabeth Nagel of Arizona and Rita Trudelle of Vancouver. Born in the Netherlands, Joe came to Canada with his family in 1928. The family settled in Charleswood as one of the original settlers, and he assumed the family business, operating Green Valley Farm on Roblin Blvd. until his retirement. Joe was a founding member of the Winnipeg Gardeners Co-operative and an active member of the Vegetable Growers Association of Manitoba. Joe loved hunting and fishing and later in life became an avid golfer and was a longtime member of Breezy Bend Country Club. Special thanks to the staff at Grace Hospital for their care and understanding. Joe will be remembered by his many friends and his special friend Eva Jarrett. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Joes name to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Please join the Kuypers family and their friends at a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 22 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles St., with interment to follow in the Assumption Cemetery.
