Proud of his service, he was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion for the past 57 years. The next chapter of his life included returning to Teulon, his marriage to Lucille Wood in February of 1948, and the birth of their son in November of 1949. Throughout this period he was employed by the Department of Public Works, was the Bulk Fuel Agent for Imperial Oil and a guard at the Stoney Mountain Penitentiary until his retirement in 1975. Very influential in its establishment, Alan was employed by, and was an Honorary Life Member, of the Teulon Golf and Country Club.
