KAREN ELIZABETH HONKE (nee EVERETT) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Honke on January 18, 2003. Karen was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by her devoted husband Lloyd. She also leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Shelley; daughter-in-law Debbie; granddaughters, Heather, Katlyn and Erin; great-granddaughter Kiara; and Mike Mosser. Brother Harvey Everett and his family Linda, Alison (Bob), Greg (Robyn) and Sydney loved Karen for her specialness and will cherish her memory. She will also be sadly missed by her mother-in-law Lydia Honke; and in-laws, Marjorie (Marvin) Noble, Delores (Eric) Orlesky, and Randy (Gwen) Honke; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Karen was predeceased by her father Herbert Everett, her adored mother Gertrude (Nanny), and so very recently by her most precious son Richard. Karen was born in Winnipeg and spent her school years in Cecil Rhodes and Daniel McIntyre schools with her lifelong friend Arlene Young (nee Miller), and spent wonderful summers at the family farm in Balmoral, MB. Karen graduated from the Manitoba Hospital Training School with a Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing, and subsequently worked at the Shriners Childrens Hospital and Health Sciences Centre. While still in school she met the love of her life and future husband Lloyd Honke. Karen spent many happy years raising her young family, supporting their interests and encouraging them in their pursuits and endeavours. Karen studied and became proficient in sign language, using this in her volunteer work with children. Karen was a devoted daughter to her mother Gertrude, and a source of strength to all her family. Karen had a special spot in her heart for children, and as a young mother was devoted to Shelley and Rick. She was especially loved by her brother Harveys children, Ali and Greg, and later by her granddaughters, Heather, Katlyn and Erin. Karen greatly enjoyed countless hours tending her garden and lovely home. She enjoyed travelling with her young family and in recent years with Lloyd. Karens inner strength helped her meet lifes adversities head-on. She will be remembered by her family as a dear friend, as well as a special wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Cremation has taken place, and following Karens wishes a private family service has taken place. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations may be made in Karens memory to the Childrens Hospital Foundation. The family would like to thank the excellent and caring staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital, and in particular Dr. Crawford and Dr. Lezack for their care. Those we love dont go away They walk beside us every day Karen, we love you and forever you will be in our hearts. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
