METRO KOWALIK After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Metro Kowalik, aged 64 years, passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on January 19, 2003. Metro was predeceased by his wife Angela; and parents, Inga and Steve Kowalik. He is survived by his son Robert; daughter Diana and husband Bernd; grandchildren, Alex and Victoria; brothers, Ron (Amber) and Adrian; nieces, Rhonda (Brett) and Linda (Lorne) and nephew Adam (Tina). Metro was born in 1938 and spent most of his childhood growing up in Greenwald, MB. He graduated from St. Johns High School and following his education at the University of Manitoba, taught in Beausejour prior to his marriage to Angela in 1965. He continued his teaching career at Gordon Bell and in 1974 joined the staff at Tec-Voc until his retirement in 1994. Metro enjoyed working in his garden and going for long walks in the bush out at the farm, where he built a cottage with his family. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and always tried to help them any way he could. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity. Prayers will take place on Thursday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will also take place at Cropo Funeral Chapel on Friday, January 24, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame.
