ANNA DIACHUN Peacefully, on Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at Holy Family Nursing Home, Anna Diachun passed away at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Roman, in 1989; her parents and two brothers in Ukraine. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children, Mary (Joseph), John (Anne), Anna June, Peter (Mavis) and her 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Mother was born May 18, 1912 in the village of Lubianky, Ukraine. She came to Canada in 1936 together with her husband and their eldest daughter, Mary. They settled in the Gimli area, relocating several times, before making Cooks Creek their permanent home in 1957. Mother was a very special and giving person. She loved to entertain her family and friends and made everyone feel welcome in her home. Whether it was her yummy cabbage rolls, delicious perogies, or pumpushky, no one left her place hungry! Mother was an avid gardener, gifted with the ability to grow and nurture any kind of plant, be it vegetables or flowers, and her labour was always generously shared with her family and friends. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church in Cooks Creek and had a strong faith in her Lord, having accepted Jesus into her heart as a young girl in Ukraine. The family extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff and volunteers of St. Marys ward of Holy Family Nursing Home, where mother resided for the past four years, and also to the Sisters for their prayers and spiritual comfort. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 24 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 25 at Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church, Cooks Creek, MB with Rev. T. Kowch officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, R3C 4G2. Forever in hearts with love. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
