NORMAN SIGURD KJARTANSON 1934 - 2003 With sadness we wish to announce the sudden passing of Norman on Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at the age of 68. Norman leaves to mourn his passing his wife Delia; son Dwight; daughter Karen (Doug) and four granddaughters, Alexandra, Nicole, Jordyn and Andrea. Also left to mourn are his stepsiblings Raymond, Byron, Beverley and their families. Norman was predeceased by his parents, Sigurd and Margaret Kjartanson; stepparents, Olafur and Mary Hjartarson; brother Jimmy; sister Joanne; and brother-in-law Karl Snidal. Norman was born May 10, 1934 in Winnipeg and spent his childhood in Reykjavik, St. Rose and Steep Rock, MB. He joined CN/CP Telecommunications in 1952 and retired in 1988 after a 36 year career. He married Delia in June of 1956 and settled in Winnipeg. Norman was a talented musician and enjoyed playing the guitar, violin and ukelele. He also had a fondness for electronics, short-wave radio and boxing. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Normans life will be held at a memorial reception from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. The family would like to thank the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their care and compassion.
