HELEN GERBRANDT DYCK January 17, 1920 - January 23, 2003 Peacefully, with courage and dignity, our dear mom slipped away on January 23, 2003, at the Riverview Health Centre. She was surrounded by the love of her family and friends throughout her struggle. Mom was predeceased by her parents, our dad Peter in March of 1980; and by her second husband John in January of 2001. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her family, Verna (Edwin), Art, Lucille (Bernhard), Doreen (Bernie), Kathy (Brian), Wayne (Donna) grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Left also to cherish her memory is Johns family with whom she had a special bond. She will be dearly missed by her brothers and sisters, numerous relatives and a host of friends, especially those that affectionately knew her as "Auntie Helen." Mom was the hub of our family and will be missed beyond measure. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, translated into prayer. Indeed, she was a little woman with a big heart, an incredible spirit and an inspiration to all who knew her. The family would like to thank Moms friends and family for their visits, cards, prayers and support during this incredible journey. Thank you to those that gave spiritual guidance, bringing comfort to us all. We would also like to thank Moms family physician, Dr. Karen Boyd, for the excellent and loving care she gave Mom the last number of years. Thank you to Jo, her home care palliative nurse, and to Susan and Lorraine from home care. Words are not adequate enough to thank Dr. Mulder and the wonderful staff on 3E at the Riverview Health Centre. Thank you for your respectful, compassionate, and loving care given to Mom and to our family during her stay at Riverview. Your kindness and dedication to comfort made Moms passing a peaceful one. She praised your work and efforts, as do her family. Angels do indeed work during thunderstorms. Deep in the hearts theres a picture More precious than silver or gold, Tis a picture of a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother whose memory will never grow old. Visitation will be held at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., on Sunday, January 26 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Morrow Gospel Church, 755 St. Annes Rd., on Monday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Lowe Farm Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family by email to: obitbulkloads@klassenfuneralchapel.com If friends desire, donations may be made to Back to the Bible Broadcast or Riverview Health Centre.
