ETOLA VIRGINIA BAKKUM (nee VINCENT) To love a Mother and then to part, is the greatest trial to the human heart. A cherished smile, a heart of gold, to the dearest Mum the world could hold. With aching hearts we whisper low, God bless you Mum, well miss you so. With her family by her side and her birds singing to her, our Mum peacefully continued with her lifes journey on Wednesday, January 22, 2003. She was predeceased by her husband Theodorus 25 years ago; and leaves her loving family to always remember, Emmy (David), Ted (Elaine), Daisy (Chris), Linda (Wayne), Dick (special friend Kathy), John (Sheila), Dennis (Shirley), Debbie (Jamie) and Ali (Kevin) her grandchildren, Tina (Chris), Ted, Gary, April (fiance Todd), Melissa (fiance Joel), Amanda (friend Kurt), Christopher, Christian, Joel, Cody, Jessica, Clay, Nicole, Conner, Lucas, Dru, Korde, Ashley, Samantha and Alexandra; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Christina; her brothers, Sam and Jack, and their children. She was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Daisy; her brothers, Bobby and Ed; her sister Mary; sisters-in-law, Lies and Diane; her nephew Alfie; and son-in-law Jim. Born on December 7, 1925, Mum lived her entire life in Stony Mountain. She grew up on the family farm, and in 1955 met and married our dad and moved up to the top of the hill where she raised her nine children. Mum was a down to earth person who enjoyed her flowers and her birds, but most of all, her family of which she was so proud. Her church was also an important part of her life. Many hours were spent with her girls, making perogies for the church fundraiser. Her favourite pastime was gardening and feeding her birds. Thanks to Dr. Pinniger and staff at Stonewall Hospital, Dr. Zacharias and staff at the Renal Clinic, Centre Dialysis and all of the staff on A4 at the Health Sciences Centre. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 25, 3:00 p.m. at Christ Church. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Christ Church (Anglican), Box 375, Stony Mountain. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
