Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN WILSON ARMSTRONG It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John Armstrong, aged 93 years, of Selkirk, formerly of Petersfield, MB on January 23, 2003. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 56 years, Grace, son Ken (Becky), grandchildren, Chrystine (James) and Jaclyn (Ryan) son Raymond (Giny), grandchildren, Jeffrey, Bree (Roger) and Becky (Dave) daughter Pat (Keven), grandchildren, Derek (Joanne) and Ambyr; sisters, Beth, Ruth and Mildred; brother Sandy (Phyllis) and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Minnie (1969), his father Robert (1982), sister Adeline (1959), and brother Barney (2000). John was born on September 14, 1909 in Pilot Mound, MB. He was based in Shilo from 1941 to 1945 with the army and then married Grace Sims in 1946. He later moved to Petersfield, where he ran the garage from 1946 until the early 1960s. He farmed until the mid seventies, then moved to the Knights Centre, Selkirk, in 1995. The family would like to thank Selkirk Homecare, Dr. Lindenschmidt, Dr. Hussain and all the nurses at the Selkirk General Hospital that cared for John. A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 25 at 3:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, with Rev. Canon Godfrey Mawejje officiating. Interment to be held at a later date. in Wakefield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Johns memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, St. 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
