MORRIS (SPEED) GLOW A wonderful man left us on January 24, 2003 and it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother, uncle, father-in-law, zaida, and friend. Morris was the husband of Molly (Shapiro) for 44 years. The adored father of Gayla and son-in-law Dr. Richard Klein (Toronto) and Russell. He was the enchanting zaida to his three grandsons, Willis Klein, Dustin and David Glow. A caring brother to Gerald (deceased), sister-in-law Sally and uncle to Murry Glow (Toronto), Bryan and Greg Shapiro (Vancouver) and brother-in-law to Saul Shapiro (Vancouver). Morris was a veteran of the Second World War in the Medical Corps. He enlisted in 1939 and was in active duty from 1942 until the end of the war. Upon returning to Winnipeg, Morris entered University of Manitoba and three years later graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy. Soon after Morris purchased a small pharmacy and a few years later built his own at 161 Osborne St. Morris owned and operated Glows Pharmacy for many years and was known for his kindness and generosity throughout Fort Rouge. Morris would never allow a customer to be without a needed prescription and would kindly deliver on his way home from work. Morris lived his entire life in Winnipeg and enjoyed many wonderful years and had many dear friends. At retirement he kept involved with the Continuing Education Pharmacy Lectures, the Retired Businessmans Group and spending time with his grandsons. The funeral service took place on January 26 at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, with Rabbi Green officiating. The family especially wishes to extend their gratitude to the pallbearers, Mr. David Chizda, Mr. Eliot Garfinkle, Mr. Brian Glow, Dr. Sheldon Glow, Dr. Martin Gurvey, Mr. Syd Hochman, Dr. Richard Klein and Mr. Lloyd Weinberg. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Health Sciences Centre for their kind assistance and especially Dr. J. Johnston, Dr. F. Aoki and Dr. W. Li for their considerate care. If family and friends desire, please contribute to a charity of your choice in honour of Morris.

  • I worked at Glow’s Pharmacy for a few years...around the late 70s ...doing stocking, cashier, pharmacy technician upstairs, then worked with Jim Carr downstairs in the prescription Center when the business became “computerized “....many great memories...Morris was a great person...😊❤️ - Posted by: Karen Braun (Employee ) on: Jan 09, 2021

  • In memory of my Dad. It is your birthday in a few days and I am thinking of you and missing you as always. I wish you could be here to just chat, or go for a ride. I wish you could be here to see how your grandsons have grown into men. They would have loved to know you and I know you would have continued to love them. Your legacy continues, your kindness is always remembered. Know that when I need to make decisions, I still think to myself, what would Dad have done. Your memory will never fade in my heart. Your quiet strength, optimism and love of life are forever cherished. Love you forever. - Posted by: gayla glow (daughter) on: Feb 07, 2015

  • I worked for Mr glow for many years starting when I was 12 years old as a delivery boy. I continued working for him until my mid 20's when I got married. I worked on the stock room, as a cashier, in the post office wicket and helped in the pharmacy. Mr Glow was a wonderful man who trusted and supported his staff. He was one of the most hardworking people that I have ever known and one of the most understanding and compassionate people I have ever known. I have very fond memories of him and I owe him a debt of gratitude for giving me a chance to work for him. He is very much missed. - Posted by: Norm carter (Friend) on: Jan 26, 2015
