MAX KOFFMAN It is with the deepest sadness that the family announce the passing of Max Koffman on January 15, 2003, at the age of 89, with his children at his side in the Health Sciences Centre. Max is lovingly remembered by his second wife Anne; his four children, Gord (Teresa), Ron (Beatrice), Carol (Ken) and Laivy; his grand-children, Debbie, Jon (Susan), Terry (Julie), Jeff, Kevin, Maureen (Chris) and Karen; his great-grandchildren, Savannah, Alexis, Brett and Bryan. Max was predeceased by his mother Golda and father Kalman (Faiga) sister Esther; brothers, Morris, David and Jack; his wife Beatrice; and grandson Ian. Max was born in Winnipeg, schooled in Prince Albert, then moved to Dauphin and finally settled back in Winnipeg where he proudly raised his family. Maxs greatest joy was family. He was happiest when surrounded by loved ones, telling stories and cooking up some of his specialties like Latkas, Gefilta fish and waffles, to mention a few. Max also prided himself in his work ethic starting at the tender age of 14 delivering telegrams. After the war, Max alongside with his father and brothers built and successfully ran the "K Koffman & Sons" hide and fur business until 1971. At the young age of 65, Max was still not content with retirement and chose to drive a truck, which rekindled his passion for travel and camping. Max was a vital and active man well into his 80s, pursuing his many loves of physical activity such as cycling, swimming, bike riding, ice skating and playing baseball. Funeral services were held on January 17, at the Chesed Shel Emes Chapel on Main Street. Donations may be made in his memory to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 787-4143. The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre for all their efforts, care and support.
