Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH LEIGHTON On January 19, 2003, Joe Leighton of Edmonton passed away at the age of 88 years. Born in Kilmarnock, Scotland, Joe immigrated to Canada with his mother and sister in 1921, to settle in Winnipeg. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1942 and served until the end of the Second World War. Married to Muriel Shanks Tollick in 1944, he raised his family in Winnipeg, Toronto and Edmonton, where he joined G.W.G. until 1983. Joes interests were many, and varied among them music, photography, sports and drama. He helped to found the Second Edition Players out of a seniors drama class at the University of Alberta. Joe will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by Muriel, his wife of 58 years; son Neil (Lydia) daughter Joanne (Len) also seven grandchildren, Christine (Emile), James, Caylae, Darren, Jenelle, Kendall and Connor. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church, 8810 Meadowlark Rd., Edmonton, AB, on Saturday, February 8, at 1:30 p.m. with Minister Margaret Hetherington and Rev. Norman MacDonald officiating. Friends who so wish may make memorial donations directly to the Trinity United Church Memorial Fund, Alberta Cancer Foundation.
