MARJORIE GOBERT February 12, 1908 - January 22, 2003 Aged 94 Born in Winnipeg, MB, Canada, to Robert and Sarah Jefferson, Marjorie was the youngest of six daughters. She lived her early years at the foot of Cambridge Street; graduated from Kelvin High School in 1927; arrived in Los Angeles, CA in 1928 with husband Maurice J. Gobert (deceased 1974) and worked in the dairy and then the thoroughbred horse business from 1927 to 1964. In her final 20 years she lived in her own home in La Habra, near her elder daughter. She will be remembered for her caring nature, her magnetic personality, her fierce independence, and insistence on driving her 1964 Chrysler everywhere. She loved to travel, play cards, and to sew or mend anything her great-grandkids brought to her for repair. She was predeceased by her older sisters, Dr. Dorothy Jefferson of Vellore, South India, and Jean Anderson of Macgregor, MB, and is survived by three sisters, Edna Hotel, 96, of Austin, Edith Gobert, 98, and Phyllis Graham, 100, of Winnipeg. Also surviving are two daughters, Lorene Rietkerk (Tommy), Ruby Jaques (Ivan) four grandchildren, Robert Rietkerk (Joanie), Linda Poore (Dan), Chad Jaques (Marjorie), and Wade Jaques; six great-grandchildren, Natalie, Allison, Ryan, Brandon, Danielle and Dana; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and especially by her family. Graveside services were held on Monday, January 27 at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, CA.
