THE REV. DR. BARRY GRANT RASMUSSEN It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden death of our beloved husband and father Barry. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Karen; devoted daughters, Amy and Michelle; his parents, Ed and Marian Rasmussen; sisters, Debbie Rasmussen and Deana Rasmussen; his in-laws, Vern and Arlyn Cooke; sisters-in-law, Colleen Kuilman (Martin, Ben and Lisa) and Sheryl Lengyel (Murray, Heather, Heidi, Glen and Holly) and many other loving relatives and friends. At the time of his death, Barry was pastor of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Teulon and Gethsemane in Inwood, MB. His astounding energy and passion for life enabled him to fulfill many goals and dreams, and to allow others to greet challenges in an enthusiastic way. After graduating with his Master of Divinity in 1983, he became pastor of Salem Lutheran in Pass Lake, ON. In 1987 he took a call to be shepherd of Advent Lutheran in Thompson, MB. A call to First Lutheran in Winnipeg came in 1990. It was during these years that he continued his academic pursuits and attained his Master of Sacred Theology in 1995. Teulon became home in 1997. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in 1999. Barrys passion for life and humanity came through in all his involvements: family life, ministry, golf, chess, racquetball, baseball, curling and his new-found passion, hockey. To be involved with people and their lives was how Barry ministered. Barry taught us all about Gods grace and how it works in our lives. He lived his life by Gods grace. God bless you and keep you in His care. We love you. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 29 at 4:00 p.m. in the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre. Interment will follow in the Windsor Cemetery, Teulon. If friends wish, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of ones choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
