ELLA ANNA HENDERSON It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ella Anna Henderson, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at the Riverview Health Centre after a long, courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 80 years. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Jack of 60 years of marriage; children, Bob Henderson (Gail), Wes Henderson and Laurie Andersen (Paul) grandchildren, Tanis Petreny (Gale), Rob Henderson (Susan), Matt and Whitney Henderson, Jeff, Kim and Evan Andersen; and great-grandchildren, Lauren and Erin Petreny. Mom is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Fred Rossnagel (Marjorie), Addie Vogt (Al), Ernie Rossnagel (Norma) and Marge Wright (Gord) along with many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her father Andreas in 1945 and her mother Bertha in 1999. Mom was born in Waldersee, MB, on February 19, 1922. Mom was a very special person devoted to her family and many friends. Mom enjoyed all family occasions, many in her own home. Whether it was for coffee, for dinner or for several days at a time if need be, you were always welcomed with open arms. Many family stories were born on Beaverbrook Street with Christmas dinners around the ping pong table and parties and dances in the basement rec room. Mom was very proud of her children and their families and always attended various school and sports activities, cheering them on. Once her children were grown, Mom worked part time at Simpson Sears until her retirement, making many lifelong friends. Some of Moms fondest memories were of Florida where she and Dad spent 16 wonderful winters together after retirement. Mom also enjoyed many years spent at the lake, first in a trailer park, then a cottage, and then a trailer again. Mom took pride in tending to her many plants and gardens. Mom loved to play cards and tile rummy with her grandchildren, along with knitting, crocheting and doing ceramics. "Winston" was her pride and joy. A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, February 3 in Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd., at 1:00 p.m. Our family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Riverview Health Centre 3 East for their loving care and compassion that they have given Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ellas memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
