IDA BERNES (nee WALTON) Peacefully on Sat-urday, February 1, 2003 at Victoria General Hospital, Ida Bernes passed away surrounded by her family. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Tom and Brian, daughter-in-law Joey; grandchildren, Candice, Pat, Kathleen (Regan), and Steve; great-grandchildren, Xavier and Isaac (Magloire) her sisters, Mary and Hilda; and brother Cecil; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1993; and by her siblings, Alice and Tom. Ida was born November 23, 1914 in Rocanville, SK. A passionate square dancer and artist, she was a loving and hardworking woman who was committed to her family. The family would like to thank the many people who helped Ida through this difficult time, in particular the 5th floor nursing staff at Victoria Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be make to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, at 1:00 p.m. at Donnelly United Church, 1226 Waller Ave., Fort Garry.
