JANE STUART KINES RN, APR, DTM, BA A nurse, midwife, educator, journalist, media and church activist, grandmother, wife and mother, Jane died suddenly on January 29, 2003 at the age of 68 as the result of a motor vehicle accident near Prescott. A Queens Guide and Gilwell Scouter, Jane trained as a State Registered Nurse at the Middlesex Hospital, London, England. She founded the Kirathimo Family Life Training Centre (Kenya) and Kirathimo International, a primary health care provider for 25 rural villages in Belize. After serving as a district health nurse in Nairobi, Kenya and with East African Flying Doctors (EAMR). Jane pursued journalistic endeavours as founder of the Kenya Public Relations Society, co-founder of Westman Media Cooperative in Manitoba, and co-founder of World Media Institute, whose Tribute publications she edited. During this time, Jane graduated a gold medalist in Canadian history from Brandon University and qualified as a Distinguished Toastmaster with Toastmasters International (TMI), and was elected its District 61 Governor (Ontario, Quebec, New York). An Anglican lay reader and student of religion, Jane was ever a devoted gardener, photographer and seamstress. Loving wife and partner of Wayne Kines of Wild Goose Harbour, Jane was beloved mother of Robin Stuart (and Kathy) of St. Albert, AB and of Helena Ziegler (and Philip) of Bedford, NS; as well as grandmother of Samanthan, Nicole, Christopher and Michaela Stuart and Karl and Daniel Ziegler. Jane is also survived by her dear sister Wendy M. Stuart of Chorley, Lancashire, UK. Jane will be remembered by Waynes children and their families, David and Teresa of Toronto; Peter, Vibeke, Nicholas and Isabel of Denmark; Andrew and Rhonda of Toronto; and Stephen, Iva, Sabina and Simon of the Czech Republic. A celebration of Janes life will take place Monday, February 3 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Johns Anglican Church, Centre and James Streets, Prescott, ON.
