EDITH GLADYS McRAE (nee HENRY) July 14, 1903 - January 30, 2003 It is with deep sorrow, but also with thanksgiving for her life, that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother and grandmother at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg in her 100th year. Edith is survived by her children, Kenneth, Joan and Gary (Kathie) grandson David (Tanya) and great-grandchildren, Michelle, Brittany, Ivy and Brady; and her sister-in-law Florence Henry of Milverton, ON; and many nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1958; parents, William and Edith Henry; and siblings, Ellen, Wilbert (Vimy Ridge), Myrtle, William, Maimie, Jennie, and Andrew Carter. Edith was born in Tyndall, MB and attended school there and at West Selkirk. Prior to her marriage, she worked at the Winnipeg General Hospital as a maid, then waitress in the nurses dining room, and as a switchboard operator at King George Hospital. She and Joseph raised their family in the Brooklands-Weston area where Edith lived for 56 years. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance with Pastor William L. Ehlers officiating. Viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment at Brookside Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the many staff and caregivers at the Middlechurch Home for their love and compassion towards Mum. Special thanks to Chaplain Lynn Austen for her care and support.
