GORDON EDWARD BARNWELL Peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2003 at Meadowood Manor Personal Care Home, Mr. Gordon Edward Barnwell passed away at the age of 96 years. He was born in Brandon, MB at home on October 18, 1906 to Edward and Agnes Barnwell. He met Anne Nicoll while working at the Canadian Bank of Commerce and they married in 1935. They had 65 happy years of marriage until Anne passed away in August of 2000. He is remembered by his daughter Jo-Anne Znidarsic and husband Branko; grandchildren, Barbara and Andrea Znidarsic; sisters, Lillian Jamieson of Mississauga, ON and Vivian Syme of Regina, SK, as well as several nieces and nephews. Dad had many good friends and enjoyed the company of everyone. He appreciated his years working in the bank which culminated in his promotion to manager of the Mortgage Department at C.I.B.C. Head Office in Winnipeg. Dad loved golfing and curling and made many friends through these activities. He spent many summers at the family cottage in Carlyle Lake, SK throughout much of his life. A memorial service will be held at Windsor Park United Church on Tuesday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Sharon Wilson officiating. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Meadowood Manor P.C.H. for their compassionate care.
