ELLEN CAMPBELL Ellen Annie Campbell passed away peacefully, on February 1, 2003, at the age of 98. Ellen, an amazing woman, lived a very full and rewarding life. She was full of fun and was a wonderful aunt and grandmother. Ellen went out of her way to help people and to be a good friend. "Auntie" will always be remembered, with love, by her family: niece Marilyn Lawson (Alan) and nephew John Moore (Pauline) granddaughters, Donna Blakeman Welch (Terry Panych), Joyce Bateman (Darrell Hancock), and Heather McLaren (Don) grandsons, Gary Bateman (Heather Ridge) and Gordon Campbell (Yvonne) and son-in-law Len Bateman (Mary). She was also a great-aunt and great-grandmother to many generations of younger people. Ellen was predeceased by her husband John Morrison Campbell and her step-children, Don Campbell and Eileen Bateman. During her lifetime, Ellen worked tirelessly in her community, especially for the United Church and the Eastern Star. She was greatly appreciated by all who had worked with her. Born in London, England, Ellen and her family immigrated to Canada after the First World War and settled in Winnipeg. The family wishes to thank many good friends, especially the Don Ernst family; neighbours, Jamie Koshyk and Curt Peniston; Effie Deobold; the Grace Hospital; and the home care people who spent time with Ellen. As per Ellens request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, February 15 at 4:00 p.m. in the Deer Lodge United Church, 2093 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ellens memory to a womens shelter or any charity of your choice. "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted."
