ALFREDA MARIE COOK (nee POIRIER) On Sunday, February 2, 2003 Alfreda Cook passed away at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli, MB at the age of 79 years. She is survived by her stepsons, Patrick (Hedi) Cook and Rod Cook; grandson James Cook; brothers, Wilfred Poirier (Merilda), Leopold Poirier (Gilbert) and Paul Poirier (Noella) and sister Annette Boudreau (Valmore). Alfreda was predeceased by her parents, Georges Poirier and Beatrice Theiault; her first husband Noel Gauvin; and second husband Leo Cook. She was a Second World War veteran and was an Army Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada life member. She was a member of the executive committee and the Sick and Visiting Committee. The family wishes to acknowledge Gloria McDonald and Jeannette Beech and the nurses at the Johnson Memorial Hospital for the care and kindness given to Alfreda and her family. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6, at 2:00 p.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Winnipeg Beach, MB.
