Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID H. BERGEN Peacefully, on February 3, 2003, with his wife and children at his side, David H. Bergen passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 79 years. Dad was born on July 5, 1923 in Horndean, MB and was baptized on the confession of his faith in 1943. Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife Lena of nine years; one daughter Mary (Mel) of Winnipeg; four sons, Abe (Sarah) of Kleefeld, Jake (Helen) of Mitchell, John (Helen) of Landmark, Martin (Terri) of BC; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; five stepdaughters, Darlene Maydiniuk of BC, Diane (Alvin) Belley of BC, Dolores (Bob) Schilling of Ste. Anne, Debbie (Dave) Kereluk of Winnipeg, Darcy Sawchuk (Clem) of Winnipeg; two stepsons, Bernie (Sandy) Sawchuk of Winnipeg, and Carl Sawchuk (Crystal) also of Winnipeg; 13 stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Peter (Ann), Henry (Hilda) and a sister, Ann (Jake V.) Hiebert, all of Steinbach, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Dad was predeceased by his first wife Maria in April of 1991; his parents; one stepson-in-law and five brothers, Abe, William, Jacob, John and Martin and a sister Lena. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6 at 1:00 p.m. at the Prairie Rose EMC at Landmark with Pastor Ed Wiebe officiating. Interment will follow in the Grunthal cemetery. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, and at the church prior to the service. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for all the excellent card Dad was given during his time there.
