JUNE ANDERSON At home, with her loving husband by her side and after a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness we announce the passing of June Anderson (nee Freeland) on Tuesday, February 4, 2003. June is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ralph; sons, Brian (Yvonne) of Calgary, Scott (Janice) daughter Susan (Gary) Short; grandchildren, Matthew and Kyle Short, Charla and Ryan Anderson; as well as her brother Jack (Irene) Freeland of Toronto and family; mother-in-law Betty Anderson. June was predeceased by her parents, Jock and Dot Freeland; as well as her granddaughter Melissa Short. June was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1928 and came to Canada as a child. She grew up in the west end of Winnipeg, graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and then went to work at Eatons mail order until she married the love of her life, Ralph. June and Ralph were married on September 3, 1949 and raised their family in East Kildonan. June was a devoted wife and mother, spending many summers with the children at West Hawk Lake and then many years welcoming family and friends to their summer home at Clearwater Bay, ON. Her grandchildren were always a great source of pride and enjoyment to her. She will fondly be remembered for providing a warm and loving home to all, including many family pets and strays throughout the years. In retirement, June and Ralph travelled to Europe, took many cruises, spent many winter breaks in Mexico and most recently, saw China, taking great pride in walking the Great Wall. Special thanks to the wonderful nurses and staff of the 2nd floor at Concordia Hospital as well as doctors, A. Vajcner, I. Mohammed and P. Harris for their compassion while caring for Mom. Mom will be warmly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. A memorial service in memory of June will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel. 338-0331
