Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORIS BILLINGTON GAFKA Peacefully on January 30, 2003, at her home, Doris Gafka, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 76 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Lawrence; daughter Lynne (Nick) Laninga; sons, Wayne Gafka of Miami, FL, Greg Gafka of Abbotsford, BC, Robert (Donna) Gafka of Agassiz, BC; her loving nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister Kae Speer; brother Bryan (Dean) St. George; many nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her father Arthur Wade (1926) her mother Georgina St. George (1973) by her son Gary Gafka (1973) by her stepdad Ivan St. George (1974) brother Clarence Wade (1978) and brother Dennis St. George (2001). Doris grew up and attended school in the Dugald area. After her marriage to Lawrence, the couple moved to Winnipeg where they made their home, raised their family of five children, and have since resided. Doris worked at the Celebrity Box Office until retirement due to her health. She was an avid reader and enjoyed travelling. She was devoted to her family and thoroughly enjoyed family get-togethers, having her family close. Her family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to Anne Harcus, her friend of 50 years, to her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jean and Wilf Gafka for their devotion and dedication of time over the last year. Many thanks are also extended to the home care workers for their help and kind concerns. Memorial service to be conducted by Pastor Jan Pastucha on Monday, February 10 at 2:30 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., Winnipeg. Private interment at a later date. "She will be sadly missed but will be in our hearts and memories forever." Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
