VERNER NIELSON November 24, 1922 - February 5, 2003 Peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2003, Vern Nielson passed away at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 80. He was predeceased by his parents, Alma and Jasper; his wife Edith; and his brother Gunnar. Dad had a love for the outdoors. He led many of the canoe trips with the Birds Hill Boy Scouts as well as taking his family camping to numerous spots in Manitoba and across Canada. Sioux Lookout became one of his favorite places to get away and do some fishing and he loved the time he spent up there. In addition to the outdoors, Dad enjoyed curling at the East St. Paul Community Club, golfing (anywhere and anytime) and staying active in general. Even in his late seventies, Dad decided it was time to start volunteering at Donwood Manor and take up swimming in addition to his walks. Dad will always be loved and remembered by his brother Eric (Ollie) sister-in-law Georgie; his sons, Larry (Andrea), Dudley (Val), Bruce; daughter Janice (Dale) along with grandchildren, Jasper, Dayva and Cassidy. Through his special relationship with Mae Sulkers, Dad had an extended family who loved him just as much, Judy Winship, Bob and Nancy Sulkers, Tom and Jan Anderson, Randy and Judy Sulkers, Larry and Kim Dyck; along with grandchildren, John, Jason, Jennifer, Jodi, Wes, Dustin, Shauna, Jon, Robyn and David. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium in Donwood Manor, 171 Donwood Dr. Please note parking is limited. If friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of ones choice. WOJCIKS ALL BELIEFS & FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
