MARGARET PIERSON (nee DARBY) Peacefully and with dignity, Margaret passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2003, at Riverview after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 91 years old. Proudly independent, she was tenacious to the end wanting to stay in her own home. She was able to do this right up until the last month of her life. "She did it her way." Margaret was blessed with an amazing mind and memory, and could recall with exact detail every aspect of her and her families life. She loved being a nurse and had some wonderful stories to share with the nurses at Riverview about nursing in the "old days." She retired from the Winnipeg Clinic 28 years ago. After retirement Margaret and Joe moved permanently to Lac du Bonnet to enjoy many good years of boating (she loved to fish), gardening, and snowmobiling before coming back to Winnipeg to live in 1985. Margaret was predeceased by her son Reg, in 1986 and her beloved husband Joe in 1998. She was very much looking forward to being reunited with them, where there would be no pain and suffering. Margaret is survived by her three children, Denis (Claire), Albert (Shirley) and Madeliene (Sis) McCrea; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Her remaining siblings are, Evelyn, Helen, Pat and Gerald. Also several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Margarets wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. A private family internment of both Margaret and Joes ashes will take place this summer. Words cannot express how grateful our family is to Dr. Crow and the wonderful staff of the Riverview Health Centre (Palliative Care Wing) 3 East. Your compassion and caring was absolutely the best. Thank you. Flowers gratefully declined, donations in her memory to Riverview (as above) at 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 9Z9 if desired, would be appreciated. MAG-E-JO...Together Again!
