LESLIE ANN SHERRY
Date of Passing: Feb 06, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLESLIE ANN SHERRY Leslie Ann Sherry, aged 51 years, on February 6, 2003, following a long struggle with breast cancer and a life full of adventure, emotion and beauty. Leslie leaves all who know and love her with fond memories of her gentle kindnesses, her generosity and her courage. Her spirit lives on in everyone she touched. In her final days with us, Leslie remarked that cancer had taught her many things, introduced her to new people to love, opened her eyes to new beauty and her mind to new perspectives. She expressed her gratitude for those who had helped her through her struggle - all the people of Cancer Care Manitoba, Doctors Bowman, Johnston and Daeninck, her friends at her truly supportive peer group, the women of Chemo-Savvy, the caring staff of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital and her beloved friends at Artemis. Her only regret was that she would miss so much in the lives of those she loved. Her family - brother George Sherry and his wife Connie, sister Pom Matheos (nee Sherry) and her husband Fred, her nieces and nephews and their children - will all miss her terribly. A service will be held on February 10 at 3:00 p.m. at Crossways-In-Common, 222 Furby St. (corner of Broadway and Furby). In lieu of flowers, Leslie has requested that contributions be sent to: CCMB Breast Cancer Centre of Hope, 691 Wolseley Ave., Winnipeg, R3G 1C3. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211

I was searching for Leslie on Facebook to say merry Christmas this year but wasn't able to find her and then this came up. I did the math and the age seems right so I am almost sure this is the Leslie I was trying to find. Needless to say I am saddened by this not only because of her passing but because I had no idea, and it has been 17 yrs. Maybe though this was why every year on my birthday in February the memories I have of Leslie seem to come back more often. I met Leslie when I was only a boy of 12 years. She was the kindest and warmest person I had ever met, and I couldn't help but be drawn to her. Her smile and laugh was an everyday welcome no matter how bad that day seemed to be. Leslie always made me feel better about everything including myself. A joke she told me that is still in my head after 40 years is about a boy with a lisp who is asked what a Thimbleberry is. I laughed when she said it was like a Rathberry only thweeter. That was Leslie to me. A smile and a laugh waiting to be shared. I miss you Leslie and I know many others do as well. I will never forget you and I am thankful for the lessons I gleaned from being around you. I learned so much about being happy about the little things, and smiling just because, from you Leslie. Thank you for being the helping hand on my shoulder all those years ago when it was exactly what I needed, And for so much more. My condolences to your family and friends who I am sure are much better people for having known you as well. - Posted by: Clayton Cordell (friend) on: Dec 14, 2020
