GEORGE ERNEST SPEARMAN 1924 - 203 At his residence, on Thursday, February 6, 2003, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, with his loving family at his side, George passed away in his 79th year. He is survived by his loving wife Muriel, of 59 years of marriage; his adoring daughters and sons-in-law, Linda, Maureen and George, Kim and Wayne; his grandchildren and mates, whom he loved very much, Brad (Marie), Tracey (Kevin), Ryan (Vicki), Wes (Steph), Justin, Jordan and Jason; special great-grandchildren, Tyson, Jesse, Braden and Kari; sisters, Doreen and Francis of Calgary; and brother Bob of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mable; sisters, Peggy, Ev, and Connie; and brothers, Herb and Ted. George resided in Winnipeg his entire life. He served in the Second World War. He was employed at CPR, The Fort Garry and The Fort Rouge Legion, and Livingstone Industries, from where he retired. George was a member of The Fort Garry Legion (Branch 90) for many years. He then transferred to The Fort Rouge Legion (Branch 97). He was proud and honoured to serve his country in the Second World War, with the 3rd Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, R.C.A. Artillery. George had been a Legion member for 49 years, of which was he very proud. He met many wonderful people at the Legion, which he always cherished. He had a wonderful sense of humour and was always playing jokes on friends and family. He was a real prankster! He was always there, when needed, with his generosity and his big smile. The most important people in Georges life were his wife and family. We spent so many wonderful times together, and hell be in our hearts forever. Georges funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m., in Deer Lodge United Church, 2093 Portage Ave. at Belvidere Street. Our family wishes to thank the wonderful people who cared for George: Homecare, as well as the Palliative Care nurses and doctors. A special thanks to Norma, our wonderful nurse and friend, who showed us love, dignity and compassion and who George thought very highly of. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of George to The Canadian Cancer Society or The Manitoba Lung Association.
