DOROTHY GIBB It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Dorothy, on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at the age of 77. Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband Bill Misurka in 1969, and her second husband Jack Gibb in 1989. Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Jacquay (Peter) Bagot, and their children, Daniel (Kirsten) and Megan; Sharon and her children, Tony, Karen and Mandy. She is also survived by her Aunt Irene; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Mom is remembered by all who knew her as a storyteller, entertainer, artist and musician. Her grandchildren remember the family stories she would retell of past days, as well as the many conversations about everyday life as she was an open-minded friend. Mom enjoyed family and friends, family birthdays and especially the "Auntie" parties. She was a real "people person" who gave her time in many unselfish ways. She received her Life Membership and pin from the Guild of the Victoria General Hospital last May for her outstanding service to the hospital since 1975. She is most remembered for her many years as chapel organist, and Candy Striper music leader. She was also one of the first to deliver for Meals on Wheels. Mom was very involved with Jobs Daughters, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Selkirk Chapter. Mom had a great love of music. She had a beautiful voice and was a talented organist. She was the choir director and organist for various churches through the years. In later years, Mom took up oil painting. She also loved her flower gardens, particularly her roses and lilies. She was a woman who loved all living things; life was very precious to her as she was to everyone whose path she crossed. The family would like to thank Dr. J. Kernahan and Ruth who looked after her so well for many years. Thanks also to the firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and especially to Janice Epp for their compassion and caring. A celebration of Moms life will be held on Thursday, February 13 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or to the Guild of Victoria General Hospital, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8.
