Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS ORTON HARCUS After a short illness, Douglas Orton Harcus, aged 67 years, passed away at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, on Monday, February, 10, 2003. Douglas is survived by brothers, Nelson of Surrey, BC and Joseph (Mae) and family of Selkirk; sister-in-law Olga (Bert) and family of Selkirk; cousins, Bud (Terry) Harcus, Margaret (Bill) Long, Barbara (Tom) Pryce of Winnipeg and Judy and Ron Harcus of Vancouver. He was predeceased by his mother Evelyn in 1944; father James in 1970 and a brother Don in 1968. Douglas spent his early years in Lockport, MB where he was well loved by all that knew him. The last 33 years he has lived at the Portage Developmental Centre, where all the staff and residents became like family. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of the Manitoba Developmental Centre, especially Sheldon Hordeski for the years of dedicated care. Flowers are gratefully declined, donations may be made in Douglas memory to Residents Benefit Fund, Box 1190, 840-3rd St. NE, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3C6. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Christ Church, 227 McLean Ave., Selkirk with Rev. Bryan Bjerring officiating. A memorial service will also be held in Portage la Prairie at the Aspen Worship Centre on Monday, February 17 at 1:30 p.m. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
