Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHEN (STEVE) NAHIRNY After a long and full life, Steve passed away peacefully at Concordia Hospital on Monday, February 10, 2003 at the age of 83 years. Steve was predeceased by his wife Mary and his parents. He leaves surviving, his daughter Joan Gerlach (Alfred) two grandchildren, Jason and Alicia; brother Peter Nahirny; sisters, Mary Chizick (John) and Ann McDougall; sister-in-law Mildred (Babe) Burke; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Steve treasured his two grandchildren extremely. He touched the lives and hearts of many and will be sadly missed. Dad lived in Gonor all his life. He retired from CNR in 1980 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed gardening and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. Prayers will be said on Wednesday (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Gonor. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 13 at 10:30 a.m., also in the church, with Fr. Harry Olyinek officiating. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery. His active pallbearers will be Dave Kublick, William Lalchun, Joseph Dubowits, John Chizick, Alexander Pawluk and John Kristiansen. Honorary pallbearers will be Peter Nahirny, Jason and Alicia Gerlach, and Spencer and Sarah Bacon. Special thanks to Dr. Karen Braun and the wonderful doctors and nurses in ICU and 3rd floor at Concordia Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
