RALPH VICTOR HOWARD
Date of Passing: Feb 11, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRALPH VICTOR HOWARD After a full life, with his family by his side, Ralph passed on to be with his Lord and Saviour on February 11, 2003 at the age of 82 years. For almost 40 years, he was the cherished husband of Pearl (nee Goodchild) who passed away on October 21, 1993. Ralph was also predeceased by his first wife Irene (Evans) in 1953, his third wife Nellie in 2001, (whom he married at the age of 76) his parents, Fredrick and Emily; and brothers, Fred and Arthur. Left with loving memories are his four children, Ralph (Trucia) Howard, Elizabeth (Jim) Golden, Georgina Howard (Gordon Roberts) and Sandra (Richard) Hall; four grandsons, five granddaughters, two great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters; and an extended family of nieces, nephews and friends in Winnipeg, Kenora and Northern Manitoba. Shortly after retiring in 1980 after many years working at CPR, Ralph and Pearl moved to Kenora to be closer to their summer residence at Laclu, where many wonderful memories were made. During that time, Dad was very active in the community in founding the Kenora Senior Centre as well as being a keen participant the Kenora 3A Senior Games. He was especially proud of the recognition given to him by the Laclu Campers Association. In March, 2002 Dad moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to his family. A long-time mason, he was a member of Ionic Lodge No. 25, Order of Eastern Star-Wenonah Chapter No. 18, Red River Valley Chapter No. 21, Keystone and Cypress Council, as well as Khartum Temple Shrine (Oriental Band Unit). Although our Dad was usually a man of few words, his heart, drive and passion to overcome any obstacle were evident in every task he set for himself. He was a thinker but more importantly he was a doer. Deeds speak louder than words - our dad sustained us. Life was a series of challenges which he undertook with determination, dignity and pride. The gift he left his family was a legacy of pride in who we are and a desire to embrace life for what it is. Quiet steps leave long and lasting imprints. He will forever be embedded in our hearts and the hearts of the people who were fortunate enough to know him. Our humble thanks and sincere appreciation to Dr. Prenovault, Jeanette, Denise and Wendy and all the wonderful "special people" who are indeed "angels" at the Victoria Hospital (5th Floor) who helped guide our Dad through this journey. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 14 at 10:00 a.m in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Highway 1 East & Navin Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be the made to Union Gospel Mission, PO Box 1073, Station Main, 320 Princess St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 3C7 (204) 943-9904 or in recognition of Dads appreciation of nature, please plant a tree in his memory. Hi Dad, It's so hard to believe 11 years have passed since I said my last “good-night” to you. So often while I am driving the highway I almost expect to look over and see you “co-piloting”. I miss our trips to mall, having you teach me so much during our green-house browsing and growing up and appreciating nature as much as I do and all the wonderful time we shared. But most of all dad – I miss you! XOX - Posted by: Sandi (Daughter) on: Feb 18, 2014
