DOROTHY HELEN SUTHERLAND Peacefully, on Monday, February 10, 2003, Dorothy passed away in her own bed at home at the Eastern Star Chalet at the age of 85. She is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her children, daughter Dorothy Bewski; sons, Donald (Karen) and Dennis (Barbara) Sutherland. She will also be sadly missed by her six grandchildren, Lorraine Gelineau, Sandy Lemay, Lianna Jennings, Daniel Sutherland, Chad Sutherland and Ryan Sutherland; nine great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kaitlyn Sutherland, Rebecca, Andrew and Benjamin Jennings, Wade and Lisa Gelineau and Kristy and Kyle Lemay. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Donald; her sisters, Beatrice (Beattie) Granger and Winnifred (Win) Ormonde; her son-in-law John Bewski. She loved her family gatherings, playing bingo, being at the family cottage, family pets, watching the birds and her daily shopping walks to Safeway. She always made friends easily in spite of her independent way. Dorothy loved having her tea with her cigarette and talking with her relatives and friends. During her lifetime she endured several of lifes hardships but she found joy in working at Kresges (the five and dime) at Polo Park until her retirement after 25 years. She also loved to volunteer at Central Park Lodge. The family wishes to thank the supportive people at Winnipeg Regional Health Authority: Jodie McNabb, Sue Erickson, Sarah Brown and Sylvia Friesen of Age and Opportunity for their extreme care-giving, kindness and direction. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Bob Osborne officiating. Service will terminate at the Chapel with cremation to follow. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chad Sutherland, Ryan Sutherland, Wade Gelineau, Kyle Lemay, Brian Ormonde and Fred Ormonde. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothys memory to CancerCare Manitoba, Alzheimer Society or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
