ELMA BUTH (nee WEBER) Elma Buth passed away in Winnipeg on February 8, 2003 at the age of 85. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Lorraine and JoAnne (Roy) and granddaughters, JoLynn and Christine. She also leaves to mourn grandchildren, Randy (Lorrie), Allan (Lynne), Cherie, Bob, little Joanne; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Heather, Thomas, Clint, sister Lil, brother Larry (Elvera) special friends, Dana (Bill) and Molly and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her children, Alan, Madeline, Don, Ted, Marvin and an infant son; and her parents, Karline and Edward. Elma was born in Winnipeg on December 3, 1917. At the age of 16 she married Eddie Buth and moved to Greenwald, MB to farm. The family moved to British Columbia in 1950, staying first in Chase, Sinclair Mills and then settling in Vernon. She bought her first car and learned to drive in Vernon and started her first job outside the home at Downs Rest Home. In 1965 she moved back to Winnipeg to be with her grandchildren JoLynn and Christine. For a while she lived on a farm with JoLynn. She worked as a nurses aide at the Misericordia Hospital and then at the age of 49 returned to school and obtained her Licensed Practical Nurse Diploma from Red River Community College. She worked as a geriatric nurse until she was 71, first at the Misericordia and then as a private duty nurse. Elma was a quiet, loving, supportive woman. She cherished her family and took strength from her faith in God. She will be remembered for the very best home-made donuts, spinning her own wool and knitting numerous mitts, socks and sweaters, her hand-made Raggedy Ann dolls, Siamese cats and her endless search for the perfect place to live. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Charleswood Care Centre for caring for her in the final months of her life. According to Elmas wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service. Friends wishing to remember Elma can make a donation in her memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, why cry for a soul set free. Miss me a little, but not too long, and not with your head bowed. Remember the love that we once shared, miss me but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take, and each must go alone. Its all a part of the Masters plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds, miss me - but let me go. In Elmas words, "Have a Celebration." NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
