RUDOLF (ROY) FREUND 1930 - 2003 It is with great sorrow that the family of Roy Freund of Winnipeg, announces his untimely passing February 11, 2003 at the age of 72. He will be missed by his wife Linda of 49 years; his children, Gerald (Karen), Arlene (Walter), Donna (Steve) and Brad (Karen) grandchildren, Kristin, Kerry and Karla, Tammy (Jason) and Jamie, Matthew and Braeden; one great-grandson Noah; and sisters, Elsie, Elma, Norma and Joyce. He was predeceased by his mother Helene, father Rudolf, stepmom Paulina and brother Freddie. Roy was born November 4, 1930 in Steinbach, MB. He grew up farming in the Friedensfeld area, and spent many cold winters in the bush cutting wood. In 1961 he moved the family to Winnipeg. He worked at Trident Construction and then for Regal Bedding for many years until his retirement in 1994. During his retirement he stayed active by going for long walks in the neighbourhood and helping Linda babysit their two youngest grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Larry Stadnyk, Elmer Freund, Melvin Mehling, Ted Osadchuk, Calvin Osadchuk and Dale Osadchuk. Honorary pallbearer will be Lawrence Freund. Viewing and prayers will be held Sunday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach, MB. The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Monday, February 17, 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Pauls Cemetery. If friends so desire donations in memory of Roy may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4.
