Date of Passing: Feb 11, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE CARDAMONE (nee WACHNA) It is with deepest sorrow that our family announces the passing of our dearly beloved wife, mother and grandmother Florence, on Tuesday, February 11, 2003, at the Victoria General Hospital. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her beloved and devoted husband Frank of 56 years of marriage; daughters, Barbara (Bob), Cynthia (Dale) and Brenda (Allan) grandsons, Graham, Adam, Brad, Gavin and Cory; brother William (Iris) of Ridgeville, MB; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father Anne and Metro; sisters, Pearl (Pete), Effie (Steve) and Teenie (Andrew) and eight siblings in childhood. Florence was born and raised in a Ukrainian pioneer family on a homestead in Stuartburn, MB. Later she came to work in Winnipeg and while working at Salisbury House, she met Frank and they were married in 1946. She was a kind, gentle and hard working woman who loved and cared for her family above all else and was very proud of them, as we were of her. Florence was a wonderful homemaker, cooking delicious meals her family always enjoyed and appreciated; baking and sewing were her hobbies. Whenever possible she could be found outdoors, tending to her flowers, garden and fruit trees, all the while planning our next mushroom or berry picking outing. She loved trailering with her family and had many happy memories of swimming, picnicking and sitting around the evening campfires with them. Florence was happiest in the country. She loved family gatherings at her brother and sisters homes; she took great pride in her Ukrainian heritage with them. These were special times for her and the family, as were Christmas, Easter, birthdays and weddings. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15 in St. John Brebeuf Roman Catholic Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place, Winnipeg, MB, with Rev. Fr. Michael Koryluk presiding. Entombment will follow in the Assumption Chapel Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to mass. Our family would like to thank the staff and Palliative Care team of Victoria Hospital for all they did for Florence during her long stay with them; and a very loving and heartfelt thanks to her wonderful roommates, Theresa, Olga and Goldie, who watched over her, helped her and prayed for her. We will be forever grateful. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Florences memory may be made to St. John Brebeuf Fresh Air Fund, 1707 John Brebeuf Place, Winnipeg, MB R3N 2A2. "Dearest Mom, rest in peace. God is taking care of you now. Well love you forever; till were all together again." WOJCIKS ALL BELIEFS & FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
