NORA ELIZABETH MOWAT Peacefully with family by her side, Mom passed away at the Health Sciences Center on February 12, 2003 at the age of 78. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 58 years, Tom; children, Shirley (George) Selkirk, Lillian (Eggert) Thordarson, Linda Smith and Ernie Mowat; daughter-in-law Sarah; son-in-law Reggie; special grandchildren, Ernie, Lisa and Andy plus 15 other grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and relatives. She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers; three sisters; two sons, Barney and Stanley; two grandchildren, Karilynn and Sheldon; and one great-grandson, Brent. Mom was born at Jackhead, MB and resided at Matheson Island since the age of 16. She was a role model not only for her children, but also her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom enjoyed playing bingo and knitting as well as all the family gatherings. Mom and Dad enjoyed their years together even though there were hard times. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 17 at 1:00 p.m. in the Matheson Island Community Hall with Pastor Neill and Edith von Gunten officiating. Interment in the Matheson Island Cemetery. At Moms request family viewing only prior to service. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Ernie and Andy Mowat, Wilfred and Robert Selkirk and Tom and Corey Thordarson. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Thordarson, Kevin Smith, Brad Mowat and her nine granddaughters. Special thanks to the staff at the Percy E. Moore Hospital and also the M.I.C.U. staff at the Health Sciences Center and to everyone who was there for us this past three weeks. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Assoc. 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg R3A 1P6. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be So he put His arms around you And whispered Come to Me You didnt deserve What you went through So God gave you rest.
