Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySISTER KATHARINA KLUTTERMANN Sister Katharina Kluttermann, Sisters of Service, died peacefully at Providence Centre, Scarborough, ON, on February 13, 2003 in the 66th year of her religious life. Born in Gevenich, Rhineland, Germany, February 17, 1901, she was the eldest of the 12 children born to Jonnis Huberti Kluttermann and Annae Mariae Nievelstein. She was predeceased by her sisters, Cecelia (Sister Mediatrix), Agnes (Sister Gabriele) and her brothers, Peter, Wilhelm, John, Joseph and Henrick. She is survived by her brother Rev. Hubert Kluttermann; and her sisters, Sister Elekta (Elizabeth), Gertrude Klutterman, Helena Weinstock; her sister-in-law Katharina Klutterman; and special Canadian friends, Paul and Kathy Dopp, Beaconsfield, PQ and Mary Deryaw, Shelleys Bay, ON. Immigrating to Canada in 1932, she had been referred by the St. Rafael Society, in Holland (a society for the care of immigrants) to the Sisters of Service in Canada, was met and welcomed by the Sisters on her arrival in Halifax and Toronto. Attracted to the community because of its service to newcomers, she entered the Sisters of Service in Toronto in 1937. Sister Kluttermann devoted her life to the Immigration Ministry, meeting and welcoming newcomers at the ports of Halifax, NS, Saint John, NB and Quebec city. She continued this service in the S.O.S. residences for immigrant women in Halifax, NS, Montreal, PQ and Winnipeg, MB. Friends may call at Scarborough Retirement Centre, Main Floor, 148 Markham Rd., Scarborough, ON after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Boniface Church, (Markham Road at Markanna Drive) by Rev. James Profit, S.J., on Monday, February 17, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Toronto, ON. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home & Chapel, Toronto, ON.
