LOUIS EUGENE MARRIN Peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2003 Louis Marrin passed away at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 80 years. Louis is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mireille, his sister Mildred, his brother Bernard (Dorothy) Marrin and sisters-in-law, Donna of Toronto and Mary of Hamilton. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Mary and Philip McConnell of Toronto, Mary Jo and Paul Marrin of Toronto, James Marrin of Vancouver, Carol MacCulloch of Halifax, Elizabeth and Brian Belcher of Indonesia, Frances Allen, Patricia and Timothy Ackerman and Margaret and James Craig of Portland, OR, Michael Marrin, Mary Catherine and Douglas Cross and Jerome Merrin of Hamilton and Timothy Marrin of Ancaster, ON. Louis was predeceased by his brothers, Frederick of Toronto and Jerome of Winnipeg; by his sister Elizabeth; and brother-in-law Paul Allen of Portland. The son of Frederick and Mabel Marrin, Lou grew up on Kingsway Avenue. He attended St. Ignatius School and St. Pauls High School where he excelled on the football field. At the University of Manitoba he obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering. His career began at the Manitoba Telephone System and upon his retirement he was the general manager of Communications Products Division at Canada Wire and Cable. During the Second World War, Lou served in Europe with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Lou was a keen sportsman and curled at the Strathcona Curling Club, the Winnipeg Winter Club and the Wildwood Club Seniors. During the summer, he enjoyed golfing at the St. Charles Country Club and later at the Southwood Golf and Country Club. The family wishes to thank the staff of Unit 5 at the Victoria General Hospital for their thoughtful care and attention. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Peter Monty S.J. at the St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Stafford Street at Corydon Avenue on Tuesday, February 18 at 1:00 p.m. The service will terminate at the church and a reception will follow. A private interment of Lous cremated remains will take place in St. Marys Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lous memory to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation or to a charity of ones choice. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220.
